ONE Championship Announces Le vs Tonon for ONE: Lights Out
Le vs Tonon for ONE: Lights Out bolsters ONE Championship’s first quarter of 2022 programming.
Garry Tonon challenges for Thanh Le’s ONE featherweight world championship on March 11th. This bout emanates from Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Le vs Tonon was initially set to go down at ONE X. But the championship affair was shuffled around a bit after the anniversary show was postponed from the initial December 5th date.
This amendment to the date was due to surging COVID case numbers in Singapore at the time.

The announcement of this hotly anticipated matchup came during the ONE: Heavy Hitters broadcast.
ONE Championship president Chatri Sityodtong talked glowingly about the Le versus Tonon title bout during the January 14th show.
In a transcription courtesy of Sportskeeda, he stated, “Garry Tonon is arguably the greatest pound-for-pound submission artist in the world today. Explosive, dynamic. He goes for heel hooks and chokes. He’s unbelievable. Thanh Le is a mystery and a puzzle to solve. Amazing, weird taekwondo dynamics, yet phenomenal on the ground.”
These two test skills inside the ONE Circle with both returning after being inactive for over a year.
Thanh Le embarks on the first defense of his crown in this next outing. He captured the belt from Martin Nguyen via emphatic striking-based stoppage at ONE: Inside The Matrix. This went down in October 2020.
Garry Tonon has never tasted defeat as a mixed martial artist. But this next test is seen by many as the stiffest of his professional run so far.
The decorated submission grappler looks to go 7-0 in his MMA career and mint himself as a recognized world champion in the process.
Tonon’s previous prizefight saw him garner a unanimous decision win over Koyomi Matsushima at ONE: Big Bang. This took place in December 2020.
