ONE: Only the Brave’s Jarred Brooks Talks Tommy Hearns Shout Out
Jarred Brooks picked up the unanimous decision victory over Hiroba Minowa at ONE: Only The Brave. This transpired at Singapore Indoor Stadium on January 28th.
This battle between ranked strawweights set a torrid pace and both warriors did not waver through the full duration of the bout.
The dominant win resulted in Brooks climbing up a spot in the strawweight rankings towards a possible crack at the reigning champion. He is now ranked number two at strawweight after previously being situated at number three within the weight category’s hierarchy.
I spoke with The Monkey God at the post-event virtual media day. Excerpts from my recent Brooks interaction can be found below.

How much of that pro wrestling psychology informs The Monkey God‘s approach
“You know, I was a really big fan of WWE and stuff like that. But it isn’t really about that for me. It’s just trying to get my name out there, no matter what. You know and get fans. It’s not even about me trying to just go straight promotion all the time. Anytime I speak, it is certain truths in that. And so I’m not just speaking bullcrap. But yeah, I mean if it is a promo, it’s a promo. I speak my truths.”
Getting a social media shout out from Tommy Hitman Hearns
“Yeah, man. I got to meet Tommy (Hearns) a couple of times because I’m in Detroit. That guy is one of my heroes, for sure. I actually was studying him. I was putting on his highlight video and I was like man, how can I hit like Tommy? Get those knockouts like Tommy. Tommy man if you’re watching, we absolutely love you in Detroit and all around the world.”
