Oscar De La Hoya details 2022 Plan for Ryan Garcia

In a recent interview, the founder and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De La Hoya, gave a detailed plan for lightweight star Ryan Gacia’s future.

In the interview, De La Hoya mentions that “the vision is to become world champion this year.”

He continues, “you have [George] Kambosos fighting [Devin] Haney, which I believe was confirmed. That’s going to be a great fight, and so we’re gonna look at the winner very carefully.”

He then mentions that a different route is possible, he states that he is waiting for a call from Al Haymon for a potential Gervonta “Tank” Davis bout.

Either way, De La Hoya says, “we’re here, we’re ready.”

The interview comes ahead of Garcia’s return to the ring following a nearly year and a half lay-off.

The 21-year-old is back in action on April 9th against Emmanuel Tagoe at The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

If Garcia gets through Tagoe on April 9th, he will hold his place in the top five lightweights in the world. It would set up a potential title bout with WBA champion “Tank” Davis, or the winner of WBA (super), WBO, Ring, WBC, and IBF unification bout between Kambosos Jr. and Haney.

It is possible that Garcia could find himself fighting for a title by the end of the year.

Do you see “King Ry” becoming champion by the end of 2022?
