Parker Porter talks upcoming UFC 284 fight against Justin Tafa
Parker Porter has experienced a lot throughout the course of his 16 year career, but at UFC 284 he’ll be doing something he’s never done before.
UFC 284 is slated to be a massive of night of fights with a huge main event between UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev making his first title defense against dominate featherweight champ Alexander Volkanovski.
The event is also booked for Perth, Australia and will feature a number of Australian fighters. It also marks the first time that Porter will fight internationally.
While there maybe some new experiences for Porter, he’s approach is still the same.
He shows up to work everyday as he owns the gym in which he trains out of.
When he’s not training himself, he’s often working around the gym and help out his younger athletes. And last but not least, when he’s at the gym and not doing those things, he’s pumping iron as weight lifting is a huge part of career and his training camps.
As for the trip to Australia, its all business as Porter is taking Justin Tafa, who will have a full country on behind him on fight night.
Whether you’re one of the many Australian fans in attendance or someone watching at home, Parker believes there’s one thing in store for his fight on Feb. 11 and that’s a slugfest.
Parker feels that both him and Tafa have similar styles and he doesn’t foresee the fight going the full 15 minutes, so don’t blink.
Prior to UFC 284, Porter spoke with MyMMANews to discuss his matchup with Tafa, his preparation for the fight and his excitement to be fighting internationally.
