Paulo Costa Proposes Bout with Derek Brunson

After speculation of a fight between top-five UFC middleweights Paulo Costa and Sean Strickland came to a close with the announcement of Strickland vs. Alex Pereira, Costa has turned his sights elsewhere.

Costa, who was obviously unhappy about “fake macho” Strickland taking another fight, called out fourth-ranked Derek Brunson.

Costa states that “Sean gave up” and tells Brunson to “runway or accept.”

Both men are coming off of a loss in their recent outings. Brunson (23-8-0) suffered a loss to Jared Cannonier at UFC 271: Adesanya vs. Whittaker 2. Costa (13-2-0) on the other hand is coming off consecutive losses to Israel Adesanya and Marvin Vettori.

Despite both men being in the top ten of the division for the last few years, the two have yet to meet in the octagon. With both men eager to get back in the octagon and get back to their winning ways, it might just be perfect timing for this bout.

As Brunson has yet to reply to Costa’s offer make sure to check back at MyMMANews as this all unfolds.
