Paulo Costa trashes ‘sh**t’ fight between Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero
Paulo Costa was not a fan of the UFC 248 middleweight title fight between Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero.
The fight was ana anticipated one, yet after every round, the fans were booing as not many strikes were thrown. When the final bell rang, the fans boos came down even more. In the end, Adesanya retained his middleweight title by unanimous decision.
Following the results being read, you could see Costa trash-talking Adesanya and “The Last Stylebender” saying he would be next. For the Brazilian, he was not a fan of the Romero-Adesanya scrap though.
“Horrible fight,” Costa said during the postfight press conference (via DAZN). “It was a shame to watch that fight. Adesanya is nothing. Adesanya is the most shameful champion I have seen ever. He just runs. He’s nothing. He’s scared. He doesn’t deserve talk about him, but that fight was s—.
“I will make him cry,” he continued. “I will hit him very badly and he will cry like a baby.”
Paulo Costa is expected to be next in line for Israel Adesanya’s middleweight title fight. The Brazilian, like Adesanya, is undefeated as a pro.
Entering this fight, Paulo Costa is confident he will be able to defeat Adesanya, especially after seeing the UFC 248 fight.
“The fact is, Adesanya can’t handle (Romero), and Adesanya can’t handle against powerful guys like Romero, Jon Jones or me. That’s why he’s afraid to fight.”
With the loss, Yoel Romero is 1-4 in his last five and on a three-fight losing streak. Whether or not this was the Cuban’s last title fight is unknown at this time, but UFC president Dana White seemingly agreed to that.
It was not the fight many fans expected. But, hopefully, Israel Adesanya vs. Paulo Costa is much better, and one that will be highly-anticipated as the two do not like each other.
