PFL 1: Lazar Stojadinovic believes opponent’s style will “bring out the best in me”

The “Bronx Bomber” Lazar Stojadinovic is making his PFL (Professional Fight League) debut this weekend, looking to get one step closer to the million dollar payout. The Global Legion Champion signed with PFL, Stojadinovic opened up about the signing, and the obvious selling point of a big paycheck.

“One thing that steered me toward PFL was the tournament,” Stojadinovic told MyMMANews. “I like the format they got going, it makes a lot of sense a good way to fight the best in the world. Instead of up and comers, right away you are thrown into the best in the world. I’m 32 now, I don’t want to come up in the rankings,” Stojadinovic continued. “I’m not a 24-year-old who has time to climb up in the rankings for 2 or 3 years.”

The Xtreme Couture fighter, Stojadinovic, is set to meet undefeated Molid Khaybulaev (15-0-1) on April 23rd in the first of PFL’s 2021 season. Khaybulaev competed in PFL’s last tournament going 1-0-1 with a no contest.

“I expect an explosive, well-rounded, Russian fighter,” Stojadinovic stated. “I don’t really see too many weaknesses in his game. His style will help bring out the best out of me. Very aggressive, I do best with those guys.”

Throughout his career, the New York born now Vegas native has relished in the underdog role given to him. As we step closer to PFL’s 2021 season, it seems Stojadinovic yet again will claim the title of underdog. The Vegas odds currently have him as a nearly +300 active line. This doesn’t bother the 32 year old, in fact, he loves it.

“I’m not really talked about,” Stojadinovic laughed. “I’m not really taken serious in the tournament, I like that, put me in that situation. I love when that happens, one of my favorite things, leave people with their jaw open.”
