Prelim Preview: Mateusz Rebecki vs. Nick Fiore | UFC Vegas 67

In 2023, My MMA News is on a mission to give the future stars of the UFC shine and to familiarize fans with those future stars earlier. So we are debuting a new series called “Prelim Preview” where we take a look at the fighters on the prelims of each UFC card, not the main card. Everyone talks about the main card but it’s these lesser known fighters that are tomorrow’s stars. Even Khabib Nurmagomedov started out on the prelims. So let’s dive into the first bout on the upcoming UFC Vegas 67 fight card: Mateusz Rebecki vs. Nick Fiore.

Mateusz Rebecki: 16-1 Record, 8 KO/TKOs, 6 Submissions – UFC Vegas 67

Poland has produced some of the best fighters the UFC has seen. A small Eastern Europe country with a population of 37.7 million has produced names like Jan Blachowicz, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Mateusz Gamrot, Krzysztof Jokto, and many others. The next fighter coming out of Poland to join the UFC ranks is Mateusz Rebecki. Rebecki notched his ticket tot he UFC in August of 2022 with a win over Rodrigo Lidio on the Contender Series. There he won the fight via rear naked choke and impressed the boss, Dana White.

Mateusz Rebecki is quite the complete fighter. With a 16-1 record, Rebecki has won 13 straight since his lone loss in 2014. Originally a grappling specialist, Rebecki won his first three fights via heel hook. He’s also notched wins via arm bar, and the rear naked choke. He’s also won two fights with elbows from the crucifix.

But Rebecki has improved his striking greatly at the later stages of his career. He’s recorded 8 knockouts or technical knockouts, his fastest coming in 2021 in only 15 seconds. His best win is over current KSW lightweight champion Marian Ziolkowski, another name you should expect to see in the UFC in short time.

Nick Fiore: 6-0 Record, 2 KO/TKOs, 4 Submissions

On the other side of the cage at UFC Vegas 67 is Nick Fiore. He is also making his UFC debut and comes in undefeated at 6-0. The American prospect may be the underdog but looks to come in and make a statement with an upset. The undefeated prospect has won every fight via finish and has submission wins via rear naked choke and triangle.

Nick Fiore is a big guy for 155, the weight the fight with Rebecki is booked for. He’s fought at welterweight in his past fight and a catchweight of 160 in his first three pro fights.

Experience is not on Fiore’s side going into this fight, however. When compared to Rebecki’s resume, his is rather light. Fiore’s best win came last year at Combat Zone 75 against 8-4 Andre Borges. But don’t let that shy you away from the American as he comes to fight every fight.
