Pro fighter Angel Corchado killed in Florida car crash
Less than 24-hours ago, 33-year old professional mixed martial artist Angel Corchado (4-6) posted his final social media post on Instagram.
The Florida based MMA competitor could be seen dancing and punching a heavy bag while having a good time at the gym.
In his post on Friday, Corchado wrote: “This is my fun.”
“El Jefe” Corchado died in a car accident early Saturday morning in Lake Worth Beach, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The FHP is still currently investigating the accident.
The fighter from Boynton Beach was driving his 2014 Chevy Sonic on the northbound exit ramp to 6th Avenue when his vehicle collided with a traffic light pole at the bottom of the ramp just after 2:30 a.m. Saturday. He was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Corchado moved to Florida in 2010. He began training at American Top Team in Coconut Creek. He then switched to Nine Rounds gym in Boynton Beach before moving on to Combat Club, where he was one of the school’s main MMA instructors.
Corchado last competed professionally for Shogun Fights in 2018, losing by first round knockout to Geraldo Almonte.
