Randy Brown KO’s Muslim Salikhov with nasty right hand early at UFC Vegas 85

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to us tonight, February 3, 2024, for UFC Vegas 85, going down live from the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Nevada.

Headlining the event is a middleweight match up between no. 8 ranked Roman Dolidze (12-2) and no. 11 ranked Nassourdine Imavov (12-4).

Co-headlining the event is a lightweight affair between no. 13 ranked Renato Moicano (17-5-1) and no. 15 ranked Drew Dober (27-12-1).

Our feature fight of the evening came in the welterweight division between Jamaican talent Randy Brown (18-5) and Russia’s Muslim Salikhov (19-5).

Brown came into the bout having gone 5-1 over his last six, while 185-13-1 professional kickboxing champion Salikhov came in having gone 6-2 over his latest eight appearances.

Official Result: Randy Brown def. Muslim Salikhov via KO (punch) at 3:17 of round one

Salikhov opens up the bout landing an outside leg kick to the lead leg of Brown, and he continued to land it through the early goings of the bout. It looked like his kickboxing prowess was going to aid him in winning this fight up until Brown throws a double jab-cross that flattens him on the spot.

At 39 years of age it appears Muslim Salikhov’s chin isn’t what it used to be; just one of his 199 professional kickboxing bouts resulted in him getting knocked out, and now he’s been knocked out in MMA competition for the second time tonight.

Randy Brown on the other hand improves his streak to two-straight, picking up his third promotional knockout victory tonight at UFC Vegas 85.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
