Randy Couture previews the upcoming 2023 PFL season
Randy Couture has been calling fights for the PFL for a few years now and he still feels the same level of excitement ahead of each season.
This season will have a lot of eyes on it for a number of reasons.
The biggest reason is Kayla Harrison, who last year suffered the first loss of her MMA career. The former Olympian was tied to super fights in the sport prior to the loss and she’ll look to make a big come back.
This season, the PFL has a adopted a pay per view model, so Couture expects Harrison to be a big factor in the promotions new model.
Outside of Harrsion. there are also a few notable singings who will make their PFL debuts.
Former UFC title challenger Thiago Santos, who lost a split decision to Jon Jones in 2019, is set to make his PFL debut in the PFL’s first show of 2023 on April 1, when he takes on the last seasons light heavyweight champion Robert Wilkinson.
Shane Burgos, who was one of the top featherweight contenders in the UFC will make his PFL debut on April 14 against defending PFL lightweight champ Oliver Aubin-Mercier.
Finally, Marlon Moraes, who fought for the UFC bantamweight champion, will fight in his first full PFL season. He debuted late last year with the promotion and suffered a knockout loss.
For Courture, he’ll get to witness it all and he cannot wait to see how things play out throughout all the weight classes.
Prior to the start of the PFL season, Couture spoke with MyMMANews to do a 2023 season preview and he also discusses the PFL Challenger Series which some up-and-coming contenders where given PFL contracts.
