Ray Borg said he felt fantastic less than 24 hours before pulling out of UFC 215 main event

What’s done is done, nothing can reverse what has transpired in the last 24-hours as Ray Borg has pulled out of the UFC 215 main event against flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson.  But what is interesting is that 24-hours prior to his removal due to “illness,” Borg said in an interview with TMZ that he felt “fantastic.”

“I feel fantastic man, you know?  Weight’s good.  Feeling sharp.  Best shape I’ve ever been in, in my life.  I felt good about this whole entire camp, and this fight in general,” Borg said.

Borg’s nutritionist Dr. Michelle Ingels of Perfecting Athletes said that Borg’s removal “wasn’t weight related.”

“Ray has been getting progressively more sick each day this week and still wanted to fight so badly that he put on a game face and went to all of his fight week obligations.

“However, prior to beginning the bulk of his weight cut the UFC doctor examined Borg and concluded that he was too ill to fight this week and needed time to rest and get better.”

The new UFC 215 main event is the rematch between Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko. The fight will be for the bantamweight title that Nunes currently wears.
