Daniels has gone 2-1 since joining the promotion at the end of 2022. In December, he took on the now-champion, Rafael Aghayev, and went down to a decision that he was not on the better end of. He rebounded with a win over Franklin Mina at Karate Combat 35 then returned in May against Sasha Palatnikov at Karate Combat 39 and won that fight via decision.
Raymond Daniels, Karate Combat, and the new coming wave
Karate Combat has been making waves as of late (pun intended, they just visited the Dominican Republic). After signing names like Raymond Daniels and Rafael Aghayev, the promotion is making their own stars. The newly minted champion, Myrza-Bek Tebuev, is the stuff great stories are made out of. He cracked his skull open in a fight that he won and fought his way to the title, winning it in dramatic fashion.
We won’t call Rafael Aghayev or Raymond Daniels home grown talents, they’ve made their names long before Karate Combat. But Joshua Quayhagen, Ross Levine, Maximo Nunez, and many more are all names that have truly come up under Karate Combat.
Re-signing Raymond Daniels only adds to the embarrassment of riches the promotion has. With two new shows announced for the Dominican Republic again in November and Las Vegas in December, Daniels will possibly make his debut on those cards. Perhaps the Las Vegas card is optimal with the Fight Pass Invitational and UFC 296 on the same weekend.
Karate Combat is still a growing promotion but with names like Raymond Daniels, Rafael Aghayev, and Gabriel Varga, more people are bound to tune in. With more eyes comes more great signings and that makes everything better for everyone.
