Referee Mike England passes away
Referee Mike England has passed away.
England, who was born in Montgomery, Alabama, grew up in combat sports, competing in muay thai and shootfighting as a teen.
In the early 1990’s, England got involved in judging boxing matches and then turned to serving as an officiating referee.
He has refereed hundreds if not thousands of fights, particularly in the midwest in promotions such as Invicta FC, Shamrock FC, Synergy FC, and others.
Messages of disbelief have poured in on social media.
Sad to hear of the passing of legendary Midwest Referee Mike England. Mike was a staple of shows in the Midwest referring for promotions such as the UFC @BellatorMMA @LFAfighting @InvictaFights @Shamrock_FC & FAC. Condolences to the England family #RIPMikeEngland #MMA… pic.twitter.com/2Ue1N6K2aK

Shamrock FC President Jesse Finney wrote, “What a loss for the fight community in Missouri. Truly a great ref but an even better human. Mike England I miss seeing you at the fights and always talking about our family’s. Rest in peace my friend.”
Chris Gregory of Synergy FC stated, “Mike England, a beloved member of our MMA community, has left a lasting impact on the world of combat sports. He was a dedicated protector of fighters, ensuring their safety inside the ring & cage. His legacy as a great man and figure in the ring/cage will be cherished by all who knew him. We are sad to hear the news!”
As of press time, no cause of death has been publicly revealed.
Our thoughts and prayer are with the family and friends of Mike England.
