Ring of Combat 75 preview with the man on the mic…. Jay Regalbuto
Video interview with Jay Regalbuto above
Ring of Combat kicks off their 2022 fight season at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino Resort in Atlantic City, NJ on Friday night, February 18th. ROC started hosting professional mixed martial arts cage fighting in 2002 and has grown into one of if not the top “feeder” regional promotion to the UFC. Louis Neglia, the President of ROC, proudly states that over 130 fighters have gone on from his cage, to perform on the largest platforms in the country like the UFC and Bellator. Along the way, Neglia has teamed up with Frankie Perez and his Dead Serious MMA production. Together, they have made it possible for many of these athletes to go on to bigger and better things. Neglia speaks to Dana White and always is preaching for his guys to get signed and have better opportunities.
The next installment is ROC 75 and as usual, there is a stacked card with some of the best talent on the regional circuit. I am lucky enough to be about an hour’s drive from the Jersey shore and will be cage-side bringing you live results and some pics. If you can’t make it to the show or follow it right here at MyMMANews, you can watch it on-line. We hooked up with BJJ stand-out, Jay Regalbuto, who will be calling the action on the live stream at FITE.TV. (Order and watch below)
Please check out our preview of the fight card in the video above. I sat in with Jay for four fights at ROC 74, and he is one of the brightest minds in the game and a tremendous analyst.
Order and watch Rings of Combat 75 below beginning at 8:30 pm ET for $24.99.
ROC 75 is headlined by returning 145-lb champion, Dennis “the Great” Buzukja (6-2) defending his title against Josh Rohler (6-4). Rohler has been fighting for over 8 years and has a strong wrestling and grappling background.
Buzukja appeared on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2020 and put on an amazing show. Despite losing on the scorecards, he was very impressive and showed how much heart is inside of his chest. The now 24-year-old has vowed to himself that he will get back and climb even higher the next time he has that opportunity. Training with a host of UFC vets and high level mixed martial artists at Serra-Longo, they never let him forget that it is one fight at a time in this unforgiving sport.
In the night’s co-main event, the title is on the line as Phil “the Hitman” Caracappa (8-2) takes on James “the Alley Cat” Gonzalez (8-4). Caracappa returns to his roots at ROC where he is the former bantamweight champ. Gonzalez is looking to become a champ-champ as he drops down a weight class. Both of these guys believe they belong at the next level and only one will have their hand raised on this night.
Jay and I go in depth on the main and co-main event as well as highlight some of the other key matchups.
As always, the card is subject to change as this was published before the official weigh-ins.
