Ring of Combat champ Phil Caracappa heads to CFFC for “one fight”
A ‘Hitman’ coming to Cage Fury Fighting Championships
Following the first loss in his professional mixed martial arts career, current Ring of Combat bantamweight champion Phil Caracappa, will debut with another one of the area’s top promotions.
Caracappa (8-1) is coming off a split decision loss to Ricky Steele while competing on Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS) less than two months ago.
Since the ‘Hitman’ was unsuccessful in earning himself a UFC contract that night, the New Jersey native and Dante Rivera BJJ prospect went back to the drawing board.
Caracappa will return to regional action, competing for another staple in Atlantic City’s combat sports scene, Cage Fury Fighting Championships.
They offered me a good fight, just one fight deal,” Caracappa told MyMMANews.com. “Couple wins and back on DWCS.”
The 27-year old champion will face Jordan Morales (7-4) at CFFC 79 on November 16. The fight takes place at the Hard Rock Hotel in Atlantic City.
“Opponent is tough,” Caracappa said of Morales. “I tore my MCL in my last fight, so just happy to be back and be healthy.”
Seven of Carcappa’s eight pro wins took place under the ROC banner and it appears that he will likely go back to the promotion after giving CFFC a shot.
“I might go back and fight for ROC and defend my belt on February 22,” he said.
Morales, who is coming off back-to-back losses to Tony Gravely and Peter Petties, returns to CFFC for a fourth time. He has two wins and one loss with the promotion.
Combined, both ROC and CFFC have sent hundreds of fighters to the UFC. The two promotions, which are both broadcast on UFC Fight Pass, are breeding grounds for top regional contenders.
