Robin Roos – “I Always Go for an Exciting Fight”
Cage Warriors 175 is set to be one of the hottest shows of the summer for the European-based organization. This event will see a clash in the main event for the middleweight championship with Sweden’s own Robin Roos challenging for gold. Standing in his way will be defending champion Dario Bellandi. The event can be seen on July 25, 2024, on UFC Fight Pass and will also feature Matthew Camilleri and Craig Rawlins.
Robin Roos Finding MMA and Early Career
Most fighters find MMA to channel their inter energy. Roos is no different but with a little twist on his first ‘fight.’ “I started Thaiboxing very early after a trip to Thailand when I was 10 years old. While there, I had my first real fight. Before that, I had done some kickboxing and I started fighting because my family thought it was a good idea to get rid of all my energy. I got into a lot of fights in school too,” Roos told MYMMANEWS.
Since his combat sports journey that began at the age of 10 to its current location of sitting in title contention for Cage Warriors, Roos stated it took many people to help build him into the fighter he is today. “So many people have been a part of my journey, but in the end my coach that I have right now has been my biggest help to get me to where I am now and also a boxing coach that I had earlier that taught me a lot!” said Roos.
Roos trains at Kraft Kampsport in Stockholm, Sweden under the tutelage of Nico Musoke. A UFC veteran, Musoke has fought all over the world including earning a submission of the night award at UFC Fight Night: Machida vs Munoz.
Professional Career and Road to Cage Warriors Title Shot
Though only in the amateur ranks for a little over two years, Roos was extremely active. In 2017, he competed in 12 bouts and in 2018, he competed in eight bouts before turning professional in January 2019. Through his 23 amateur bouts, Roos tallied an impressive 17-6 record with four of those losses within his first six bouts. Six of his wins were by finish with the other 11 coming by decision, showing he can dictate the pace and action in the cage to earn a victory.
After a learning curve skid in the beginning of his professional career, Roos has turned it around, still early in his MMA career, winning five of his last six, with all five victories coming by a finish. He has impressed so much that he has earned a Cage Warriors middleweight title shot in his organizational debut.
“It would really mean a lot for me to get the Cage Warriors gold in my debut. I always go for an exciting fight, and I will pick my opponent apart and get that finish. A couple of really hard low kicks is guaranteed!” stated Roos.
