Ryan Hall suffers torn ACL, targets 2023 return: “Not sure who has my voodoo doll”
Ryan Hall has gone under the knife again.
Hall recently took to Instagram to announce he has suffered a torn ACL in training and will now be out until 2023. The news is disappointing as the jiu-jitsu wizard hasn’t been as active as he wants due to an injury and he has now suffered another injury. Along with that, he revealed he was supposed to fight on August 13 before sustaining the injury.

“6th surgery in 14 months today. Not sure who has my voodoo doll, but if they could stop stabbing it, I would really appreciate that… Had just agreed to a fight on August 13th, but a bit of bad luck in training resulted in a complete tear of my ACL. Started the year really hoping to fight a bunch in 2022, as well as compete at ADCC, but with the recovery being what it is, that won’t be in the cards,” Hall wrote on Instagram.
“I’m very grateful to have the best group of friends and family I could ever hope for supporting me during this time. I know that, with their help, I’ll be able to work hard and grow through the experience. Now that we’re on the other side of the procedure, can’t wait to get to work in rehab and be back better than ever in the early part of 2023,” Hall continued.
Ryan Hall (9-2) has not fought since UFC 269 back in December where he beat Darrick Minner by decision to get back into the win column after suffering a vicious KO loss to Ilia Topuria at UFC 264. Hall is 5-1 in the UFC and won TUF 22. In the UFC, he has wins over Darren Elkins, BJ Penn, Gray Maynard, and Artem Lobov, which is who he beat in the TUF finale.
