Sam Alvey reacts following latest loss at UFC Vegas 47: “Something needs to change”
UFC middleweight veteran Sam Alvey reacted following his latest loss at UFC Vegas 47, saying that “something needs to change.”
Alvey was submitted by Brendan Allen in a short-notice light heavyweight bout at Saturday’s UFC Vegas 47 event. For Alvey, it’s a bitter loss to suffer as he’s now gone winless in his last eight UFC fights overall, which ties BJ Penn’s record for most fights without getting a win. At this point, it’s quite possible that Alvey receives his walking papers from the UFC. He knows that he hasn’t been getting the job done, and when you lose this many fights in a row, the UFC often gives you your walking papers, which Alvey very well could receive.
That being said, Alvey is not done. Taking to his social media following his loss to Allen at UFC Vegas 47, “Smile’N” admitted that he needs to make changes to his game, but he remains confident he can win again.

“Hey guys, I’m fresh off my UFC fight, and as I’m sure a lot of you saw, I didn’t get it done again. I’ve lost a step. Something needs to change and I’m going to make the correction. I’m not done fighting. I love this sport. God has blessed me. I raise God’s name up high. I would not have had the career I’ve had without him. I really have had a good career, a long career. Shoot, that was my 23rd fight in the UFC. I’ve had a career that people dream of. I’m not done fighting, but I know that I need to take a little bit of a hiatus. My YouTube channel, I’m going to really push that. I want to help coach. I want to help coach you guys. If you have questions, if you want to learn from me, if you want to teach me, follow me, I’m there, follow me, I’m here. I’m going to keep pushing. I want to help others win. I wanna win again, too. I’m not done. I love you guys, praise you,” Alvey said.
Alvey’s last win came in February 2018 when he knocked out Marcin Prachnio. He’s 0-7-1 since then.
