Santiago Ponzinibbio calls out Rafael dos Anjos

Santiago Ponzinibbio is trying to make a fight with Rafael dos Anjos on his own.

The UFC welterweight is trying to make it happen by calling out dos Anjos on Twitter Monday, May 11. Dos Anjos took to Twitter first to propose a rematch with Anthony Pettis, who recently defeated Donal Cerrone by decision at UFC 249 on Saturday, May 9.

Ponzinibbio has a different plan in mind.

Dos Anjos responded to Ponzinibbio’s comment in Portuguese, translating to, “You are a comedian Ponzinibbio.”

Ponzinibbio’s record is no joke with seven-straight victories to his name. In his last fight, Ponzinibbio knocked out Neil Magny at UFC Fight Night 140 in November 2018.

Injuries kept Ponzinibbio way from the octagon for about a year and a half. He is now looking to add a victory over a former UFC champion to his resume. “Gente Boa” is unbeaten in five years, suffering a second-round TKO loss to Lorenz Larkin at UFC Fight Night 70 in June 2015.

Dos Anjos is on a two-fight skid for the fourth time in his career. He recently lost by unanimous decision to Michael Chiesa at UFC on ESPN+ 24 in January,

The Brazilian is 1-4 in his last five outings. As far as his timeline goes, UFC is scheduled to return to Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, May 23.
