Sean O’Malley to debut pink fight shorts in first title defense at UFC 299
Reigning UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley has always been recognizable for his fighting style and fashion sense. The “Sugar Show” has been known for his wild hair colors and this weekend, he’ll debut a brand new color fight kit not before seen inside the UFC Octagon. The UFC posted on their X page that the bantamweight champion will don pink fight shorts during his title defense against Marlon “Chito” Vera at UFC 299 in Miami this weekend.

This is not the first time in which the UFC has allowed special shorts for fighters, as they’ve also recently allowed featherweight Bryce Mitchell to wear camouflage shorts.
The speciality shorts have become more of an opportunity since the UFC’s deal with Venum began in 2021, and then was renewed on a “multiyear deal” in 2022 although terms were not disclosed. Although they are currently sold out on the UFCStore.com website, fans who are interested in purchasing the pink Venum fight shorts can find them here if they are put back in stock on the website.
UFC 299 will serve as the first title defense for Sean O’Malley, who won the bantamweight title from Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292 with a second-round TKO last August. His opponent will be familiar foe and rival, “Chito” Vera who previously defeated O’Malley by first-round TKO at UFC 252 after damaging a nerve in his lower leg and then securing the first-round victory.
Both men have not backed down from their first meeting, with O’Malley claiming he still sees himself as undefeated, and Vera not taking anything away from himself in getting the first victory. The loss to Vera is the only blemish on Sean O’Malley’s record since he made his way into the UFC following an unforgettable fight on Dana White’s Contender Series back in 2017, which led to his UFC contract.
With his vibrant shorts and hair style, O’Malley will enter UFC 299 on a five-fight winning streak with his most recent victories coming over former champion Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan, and now he looks to avenge his lone loss while also securing his first UFC bantamweight title defense.
