Sean Santella injured, Shorty Torres now faces Blaine O’Driscoll in Flyweight tourney at Brave CF 49
Sean Santella injured, replacement on deck
BRAVE CF 49: Super Fights has shuffled its match-ups after the Jose Torres vs Sean Santella rematch was shelved and replaced with a Torres vs Blaine O’Driscoll match-up.
USA’s Sean “Shorty Rock” Santella suffered an undisclosed injury during his training camp leading up to the rematch against Jose “Shorty” Torres, after their first encounter for the tournament quarterfinals ended up in a draw, and was forced to pull out from the fight and the tournament.
To Santella’s spot, BRAVE CF officials have brought in SBG Ireland’s Blaine O’Driscoll, who holds a professional record of 9 wins and 3 losses and is one of the most consistent and successful Flyweights in the Irish-British MMA circuit.
While the fight will be contested at a Catchweight of 61kgs, due to the short-notice nature of the match-up, the bout between Torres and O’Driscoll will indeed serve as a quarter-final fight for the most prestigious Flyweight tournament in the sport’s history.
With the last-minute change, Torres vs O’Driscoll will also move in the fight card, serving now as the co-main event of the evening for BRAVE CF 49, which takes place on March 25th, in the Arad Fort, in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The new main event of the evening will be the Super Lightweight bout between the former BRAVE CF World Champion Luan “Miau” Santiago and the undefeated French powerhouse Benoit “God of War” St. Denis.
The winner of this fight will be guaranteed a title shot against reigning 165-pound world champion Eldar Eldarov.
