Sergey Lipinets and Kudratillo Abdukakhorov Set for October 24th
Sergey Lipinets and Kudratillo Abdukakhorov are set to box on Showtime on October 24th for the interim IBF Welterweight Title. Lipinets has a great record of 16-1 with 12 knockouts. Abdukakhorov is unbeaten so far at 17-0 with 9 knockouts. The event will be presented by PBC.
Sergey Lipinets is the former IBF Super Lightweight Champion before he lost a decision to Mikey Garcia in 2018. Lipinets moved up to welterweight after that fight in August of 2018. Since the move north, Sergey Lipinets beat Erick Bone, knocked out Lamont Peterson, and won the vacant WBO Inter-Continental Welterweight title by knocking out Jayar Inson last year. Lipinets returns after a year off and looks to get back to World Champion status against Abdukakhorov.
Abdukakhorov, hailing from Uzbekistan, has been perfect thus far. He’s won the WBC Silver Welterweight title, WBF International Welterweight title, and the Uzbekistan Welterweight title. Abdukakhorov looks to announce his arrival to the world stage with a win over Lipinets.
“Sergey Lipinets announced himself last year as a serious contender in the welterweight division and can move closer to the top of the stacked weight class against the tough unbeaten Kudratillo Abdukakhorov on October 24,” said Tom Brown, President of TGB Promotions. “In undercard attractions, unbeaten Xavier Martínez can earn a career-best victory over the always dangerous Claudio Marrero, while talented super lightweight Malik Hawkins and the powerful Subriel Matías will clash with a chance for the winner to propel themselves up the 140-pound rankings. These are three evenly matched bouts that will show us a lot about all of the fighters, while treating fans to great action.”

In addition to Lipinets vs. Abdukakhorov, Showtime and PBC have a WBA Super Featherweight Title eliminator in the co-main spot as Xavier Martinez, who is a Mayweather Promotions prospect, and Claudio Marrero face off. Martinez had three knockouts last year and has been training with fellow Mayweather stablemate, Gervonta Davis. Another super lightweight fight on the card is Malik Hawkins, another Mayweather Promotions prospect, taking on Subriel Matias as well.
