Sergio Pettis on Patchy Mix “This Is the People’s Main Event”
Sergio Pettis and Patchy Mix throw down as the lineal champion and the grand prix champion vie for 135 pound supremacy at Bellator 301.
I spoke to Pettis before this titanic title clash at bantamweight. The excerpt from our media day interaction can be found below.
Sergio Pettis
A question for Sergio because we were talking ahead of your Patricio Pitbull fight and you were talking about how ideally you would have this fight fall into place after. Just because of the nature of the Grand Prix he was already on the radar. You were kind of saying you were already sick of thinking of this guy at this point. How cathartic do you think it would be to get your ideal outcome here at Bellator 301 all factors considered?
“I don’t know what cathartic means. I didn’t go to college, bro (laughs). But yeah, for sure. I mean every fight after is an emotional release. It’s a lot of energy spent. I miss out on a lot of things, a lot of birthdays, a lot of family events. A lot of just alone time in general. I’ve been at the gym or I’ve been watching videos on Patchy Mix. I’ve been stalking his Instagram, I know he’s been stalking mine too. I see him looking but it’s part of the game, man.”
“This is gonna be a big fight for both of us. Biggest fight for both of our careers. I know it’s a lot different from the Danny Sabatello and Raufeon Stots interviews you guys just had. A lot different. A lot of b****** and f***s and all that other stuff was said. But nah, this is the main event of the night. I think this is the people’s main event. This Friday, you guys are going to see how great bantamweights are. These little guys; well me little, he’s big; we deserve a lot more respect than we’re getting.”
