Shakur Stevenson on Sean O’Malley – “If he wants to come try his hand, I’ll beat the s**t out of him”
Following what should honestly be considered a success in the MMA crossover to boxing after Francis Ngannou survived 10-rounds against Tyson Fury on Saturday, undefeated pugilist Shakur Stevenson has sent a message to others who may want to try.
“I say if they feel that way, give it a try,” Stevenson said of mixed martial artists trying their hand at boxing. I think that you got some MMA guys that want to come get in the ring with somebody like me, I would love the opportunity to beat up an MMA guy and show them that there’s real levels to it,” Stevenson told Babcock on the TMZ Sports TV show.
Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight champion made his boxing debut and after knocking WBC champion Fury down in the third-round, many believe that the Cameroonian fighter should have won the decision.
“I just think Tyson Fury was off that night and them [MMA] dudes need to relax and stay in their lane,” Stevenson said.
When asked if he had an opponent in mind just in case another MMA fighter did cross over to boxing, the 20-0 Stevenson had an answer.
“What’s that dude’s name, Sean …?” Shakur asked.
Stevenson was talking about current UFC bantamweight champion ‘Suga’ Sean O’Malley.
“Tell him we can get it in. I’m ready to lock in with him,” Stevenson told us, adding … “It’s levels to this s**t. If he wants to come try his hand, I’ll beat the s**t out of him.”
