Shane Burgos eyes Dan Ige or Korean Zombie after UFC Long Island win

Shane Burgos is hoping to fight ahead of him after facing two unranked opponents in back-to-back fights.

At UFC Long Island, Burgos edged out a decision over Charles Jourdain to extend his win streak to two after beating Billy Quarantillo at UFC 268. After two very fun fights and wins, Burgos wants to face either Dan Ige or Korean Zombie next time out.

“There’s a lot, but I definitely want someone top 15,” Burgos said at the post-fight press conference after his win. “I think me and (Dan) Ige would be a fun fight. Me and the Korean Zombie would be a fun fight. I don’t know who else off the top of my head, but those fights would be fun. You’ve got guys outside the top 15 that would be fun. But listen, I did that twice already. Guys, give me a ranked guy next, someone that’s going to move me forward.”

Although Shane Burgos hinted at matchups against either Dan Ige or Korean Zombie, he says he wasn’t happy with the performance so he isn’t going to call anyone out directly.

“I’m not happy with that performance, (so) how can I call somebody out after that last one?” Burgos said. “A win is a win, 100 percent, 1 billion percent. (I’m) happy with the first two rounds, but f**k, (a) bad taste for the way that ended. I’m a perfectionist, and I feel that’s going to make me even hungrier and better in the long run.”

With the win, Burgos improved to 15-3 and is now 2-2 in his last four after losing back-to-back fights to Edson Barboza and Josh Emmett in action-packed fights. In his UFC career, Burgos is 8-3 with notable wins over Cub Swanson, Charles Rosa, and Makwan Amirkhani while his other loss came at the hands of Calvin Kattar by TKO back in 2018.
