Shanna Young talks first UFC win and move to Syndicate MMA
Shanna Young was in Tennessee preparing for her fight at UFC Vegas 53 and one day she decided to make a major change.
About five weeks before the fight, Young wasn’t happy about the way her camp was going, so she decided the next day to pack up her things and drive across country to Las Vegas.
While Young picked up and moved, she had to pick a place to train on short notice and made the decision to ask Syndicate MMA if she can use the gym and they welcomed her with open arms.
Young only spent a few weeks working with Syndicate, but the impact they made on her performance was huge.
At UFC Vegas 53, Young kicked off the event in a flyweight bout against Gina Mazany. During the few minutes of the fight, Young came out a little slow, but half way through the first round is when you saw the improvement from Syndicate.
Young closed out the opening with tons of success and not long into the second round, Young was able to reserve a takedown and land brutal ground-and-pound forcing the referee to come in and stop the fight to give Young her first career UFC win.
Following the win, Young spoke with MyMMANews about her first victory inside of the octagon, her move to Las Vegas and finally getting a UFC fight in weight class.
You can watch her full interview in the video above.
