Shannon Ross excited to make his UFC debut at UFC 284

Shannon Ross cannot wait to make his first walk to the octagon at UFC 284 on Feb. 11.

Ross got into the UFC under tough circumstances that made headlines following his fight on the latest season Dana White’s Contender Series.

Prior to the show, Ross was starting to feel stomach pain in which he just assumed was due to being hungry as he cut weight.

Then on fight night, Ross and Vinicius Salvador put a show as the two went toe-to-toe in an absolutely slug fest. Unfortunately for Ross, he was on the losing end of late second knockout, but UFC president Dana White absolutely loved the fight and was on his feet cheering both fighters on.

At the end of the show, Salvador was selected for a UFC contract and Ross ended back to his hotel room to start making the long journey back to Australia.

Not long after that, Ross was still having pains in his stomach, and he realized that something wasn’t right. So instead of flying back home, he went to a hospital in Las Vegas.

That’s when he found out that he appendicitis.

One of the UFC doctors couldn’t believe how tough Ross was as he went and fought in a war while dealing with the painful issue.

As soon as White heard the news, he was just as shocked as the doctors and to reward Ross for fighting through a serious medical condition, he gave Ross a UFC contract.

Now Ross is officially a UFC fighter, and he is pumped up for his opportunity to fight in his home country in the sport’s biggest promotion.

Prior to UFC 284, Ross spoke with MyMMANews about his upcoming fight against Kleydson Rodrigues, spending some time training with UFC 284 headliner Alexander Volkanovski, his road to the UFC and recently getting married.
