Former Cage Fury Fighting Championships flyweight champion Sean “Shorty Rock” Santella has finally been called to the UFC.
Santella, one of the most recognizable and arguably best fighters to have not been signed to the UFC contract after a number of attempts, will step in against Wilson Reis at UFC 201.
Reis was supposed to challenge for the UFC flyweight title against current champion “Mighty Mouse” Demetrious Johnson at UFC 201 on July 30 but the champion withdrew due to injury.
Santella (15-5) is on a two-fight win-streak after suffering a no-contest against Matt Rizzo at Global Proving Ground, and two back to back decision losses before that.
Reis (20-6) received his title shot against Johnson on a one-fight win-streak, proving how unstable the men’s 125-pound division is at this time.
UFC 201 takes place at the Philiips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on July 30.
