Steve Erceg KO’s Matt Schnell with beautiful left hook at UFC Vegas 87
The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to us today, March 2, 2024, for UFC Vegas 87, going down live from the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Nevada.
Headlining the event is a heavyweight bout between no. 12 ranked Jairzinho Rozenstruik (13-5) and fellow dangerous finisher Shamil Gaziev (12-0).
Co-headlining the event is a light-heavyweight affair between Brazil’s Vitor Petrino (10-0) and Australia’s Tyson Pedro (10-4).
Opening up the main card today was a 125 lb encounter between no. 9 ranked former Legacy FC flyweight champion Matt Schnell (16-8) and no. 12 ranked former Eternal MMA flyweight champion Steve Erceg (12-1).
Schnell came in having gone 1-1 over his latest two appearances, while Erceg had gone a perfect 2-0 in the UFC to date.

Schnell takes the center once the bout begins, eating a right hand by Erceg as he’s coming in. Erceg continues to bust Schnell up, opening up a cut near his left eye, catching him with another hard right hand that wobbles Schnell. Schnell then lands a good combination of his own as the round goes on, also stuffing a takedown attempt from Erceg as the opening round comes to a close.
Schnell takes the center once again as round two begins and walks right into a nasty left hook that was hidden by a right hand, putting him out on the spot.
