Steve Mowry test positive for COVID-19, Ras Hylton now faces Rudy Schaffroth at Bellator 242
A bout between Steve Mowry and Rudy Schaffroth will need to wait a while longer.
Mowry was removed from Bellator 242 after testing positive for COVID-19 on Monday, July 20. Replacing Steve Mowry is Ras Hylton, who will meet Schaffroth inside the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT on Friday, July 24.
According to MMA Junkie, Bellator confirmed the bout, although no contracts have been signed. Between Round Radio was the first to report the announcement.
Schaffroth is coming off his first professional loss, a second-round submission defeat to Tyrell Fortune at Bellator 225 this past August. He is yet to go the distance with all of his victories coming inside the first round.
Schaffroth was scheduled to fight Mowry back in February, but Mowry withdrew due to a skin infection.
Hylton will make his Bellator debut on Friday. He most recently second-round submission defeat to Terrance Jean-Jacques at Premier FC 30 this past February. The 6-foot 6-inch fighter won all five of his victories by knockout/TKO.
The bout will take place on the preliminary portion of the car, streaming on Bellator’s Youtube channel. The main card will air on Paramount.
