Strong Island Fight Night Series 2 – June 10, 2023 – 6 SBC Titles
On June 10, 2023, Strong Island Fight Night Series returns for its second installment at the Stereo Garden in Patchogue, Long Island, New York. The Return of the Sixth Borough Champions (SBC) is slated for 18 boxing bouts. Promoter Kristian Vasquez joined Carroll’s Corner MMA Podcast to speak about the upcoming event. Doors are expected to swing open at 4 PM and fights are popping off at 5:30 PM Saturday night.
Vasquez, a former two-time Golden Gloves boxing champion is working hard to bring a spotlight to Long Island Boxers. As mentioned in the interview with the promoter, “It’s not a show, it’s an event,”. As fans stroll into the Stereo Garden facility, a red carpet will be present for the media to capture the glitz and glamour of the event.
USA Boxing Metro will be the third-party sanctioning body of this event. Six SBC titles will be on the line. The blue belt designed by Vasquez, will be wrapped around the waist of six winners, including one international title.
The main event is between Derek Pedone of Vamos Boxing on Long Island and Kenny Ocean of Bout Boxing in Brooklyn. The Super Heavyweight Elite fight will contend for the SBC title.
In the co-main event, SBC champion, Melvin Martinez of Champs Boxing in the Bronx seeks to defend his 156-pound Elite title against No. 1 contender, Peter Latorre of Westbury Boxing on Long Island.
In a featured matchup, Vamos Boxing fighter Collin Clarke seeks revenge against foe Israel Bailey of South Bronx boxing in the Bronx, in a 165-pound SBC title bout.
