Brunson vs Till

Stylebender’s Future Foe: UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs Till

Brunson vs Till has big implications

This Saturday, at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, a pivotal Middleweight contest takes place in the main event of UFC Fight Night 191. Top 10 contenders #5 ranked Derek Brunson (22 wins, 7 losses) and #7 ranked Darren “The Gorilla” Till (18 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw) do battle to determine who could be next for the Middleweight Champion, Mixed Martial Arts megastar, Israel “The Last Stylebender” Adesanya (21 wins, 1 loss).

Adesanya is coming off a successful title defense against the #4 Ranked Marvin Vettori (17 wins, 5 losses, 1 draw) at UFC 263 in a close, but clear, decision victory. A rematch with former champion and #1 Ranked Robert “The Reaper” Whittaker (24 wins, 5 losses) seems to be next for “Stylebender”, but the evolving Covid-19 pandemic may put those plans on hold for the foreseeable future.

Darren Till looks to get back in the win column after a close decision loss to Whittaker at UFC Fight Night 174 back in July of last year. Till is currently 1-1 in the Middleweight Division after moving up from the Welterweight Division (170lbs) back at UFC 244 with a win against former title challenger and #9 ranked Kelvin Gastelum (17 wins, 8 losses, 1 no contest).

Till battles Derek Brunson, who looks to put a stop to his title challenging plans, and continue his own 4 fight win streak en-route to a title shot, and a rematch, against Adesanya. Brunson has become a much more measured competitor and fallen back on his wrestling roots, instead of the much more “chaotic” style he employed prior to this recent career resurgence. He may very well be looking to wrestle “The Gorilla” down and grind his way to a 5 round decision victory, to avoid the measured striking game of Till.

Till has been advocating for a shot at the champion, and Adesanya seems to be all for it based on past interviews. With an impressive victory over the currently streaking Brunson, we may be looking at “The Gorilla” Vs. “The Last Stylebender” in a fan-favorite matchup, sure to gain interest from viewers around the globe.

UFC Fight Night 191 takes Place Saturday, September 4th, From the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. By the end of the night, a contender will emerge. A contender who will be one step closer to a battle with the Champion and an opportunity of a lifetime to become the king at 185lbs.
