Sydney Sweeney – “I got first place fighting all guys”
Last week it was reported that actress Sydney Sweeney was gearing up to play boxer Christy Martin in an upcoming biopic that begin filming later this year.
Sweeney, 26, has actually been training in mixed martial arts for a number of years now.
“I really wanted to find something that was as physically challenging as everything [back home],” the Spokane, Washington, native told Women’s Health in 2023. “Some of my guy friends were MMA training, and they were doing grappling, and I was like, ‘This is so cool.’”
Sweeney has even trained with “Ronda Rousey’s sensei’s”, she said on a 2022 Kelly Clarkson Show appearance. Not only did she train with the famed former UFC women’s bantamweight champion’s coaches, but she also even “got first place fighting all guys.”
