Taila Santos in the “pinnacle of her career” as she pursues PFL title
Taila Santos has had plenty of success in her career, even taking UFC champion Valentina Shevchenko the distance in their title fight back in 2022 where she lost by split decision. Following a second consecutive decision loss in the UFC, Santos was released from the roster and made the move over to the PFL, a relationship that has been beneficial for both sides.
Heading into the second round of the 2024 PFL women’s flyweight tournament, Santos is a step closer to claiming a world title in a major promotion, this time with the PFL, which would also include the $1 million grand prize for winning the season tournament. Speaking to the media ahead of her fight against Jena Bishop. Santos discussed Bishop as an opponent and believes her experience in the sport will be a factor in their fight.
“I’ve been in the sport for a while, I’ve done it all, I’ve seen it all, I’ve faced just about every single type of opponent and background in my career. From what I’ve seen based on her style and tape that I follow, she’s going to try and take this fight to the ground and work on her strong suits, but I’m not fazed by it. I feel like I’m well prepared based on the experience I bring to the cage and the camp that I just went through.”

Having just two fights in her new promotion, Santos believes that things couldn’t be going any better and for herself as a fighter, she has at the “pinnacle” of her career as she inches closer to the PFL world title.
“The experience with the PFL has been nothing short of amazing, it’s been a really, really pleasant fight week, this one and the last one. As far as this championship run, this is the pinnacle of my career. This is what I’ve been fighting for quite literally, what I’ve been competing for, training for, and preparing for throughout my entire career. It’s a moment I’m looking forward to.”
That moment of achieving world championship gold is within reach for Taila Santos, but she’ll first have to take care of business against Jena Bishop at PFL 4.
PFL 4 takes place on Thursday, June 13, live from the Mohegan Sun Arena and fans can watch the action on ESPN+ starting at 5:30pm ET.
