Tonight on the main card of UFC on ESPN 13 on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, two female flyweights will look to climb the ladder at 125-pounds.
Liverpool, England’s Molly McCann (10-2), looks to make it four in a row with the UFC as she meets Brazil’s Taila Santos (15-1).
“Meatball” Molly McCann earned three straight unanimous decision wins with the UFC over the likes of Diana Belbiţă, Ariane Lipski, and Priscila Cachoeira. Her lone loss inside the octagon came by way of submission while in her debut against Gillian Robertson.
Santos made her way to the UFC following a win on the Contender Series but then would drop her debut bout with the promotion by way of split decision to Mara Romero Borella in February 2019.
Tonight, wrestling would be the story of the fight.
Taila Santos dominated the fight in the clinch and on the ground, forcing a unanimous decision victory out of McCann.
Her transitions, tactics, and takedowns were flawless. Santos performed as if McCann owed her lunch money, just rag dolling her opponent for the majority of the fight.
Taila Santos is going to be a force in the UFC women’s 125-pound division. Will be interesting to see who the matchmakers pair up against next.
