Adriano Moraes may be the current flyweight world champion in ONE. But eight years ago today, he tasted defeat via a razor-thin judges’ decision in the evening’s main event contest.
This SD loss came against Yusup Saadulaev who ascended to 11-3 after the main event bout verdict was announced aloud.
That fight marked Moraes’ debut effort with the promotion and the flyweight sensation has since gone on to carve out multiple reigns in that division.
Then undefeated rising middleweight Leandro Ataides improved to 7-0 as a professional mixed martial artist. This came via first-round KO over Brayan Rafiq in the co-feature bout of the card.
Ataides would go on top to challenge for the ONE middleweight world championship later on in his run. He has tasted skills in the Circle against some of the weight category’s very best.
Current ACA heavyweight champion Tony Johnson Jr lost at ONE FC 12 via a closely contested split decision to Chris Lokteff.
This marked Johnson Jr’s second pro-MMA loss up until that point. The lone other defeat was against future multi-division UFC titleholder Daniel Cormier. Johnson Jr had already picked up name-value wins over Tim Sylvia and Derrick Lewis at that juncture in his career.
Gianni Subba notched a victory via elbows in the first frame of his fight with Chen Yun Ting. Subba rose up to 3-0 overall as a pro-MMA fighter while Ting left with a .500 record of 1-1.
Also, AJ Lias Mansor captured a tournament championship at 145 pounds via unanimous decision against Melvin Yeoh.
