Teofimo Lopez Cast For Creed III Alongside Michael B. Jordan
Unified boxing champion Teofimo Lopez announced that he has been cast in the upcoming Creed III movie alongside franchise star, Michael B. Jordan. The movie comes out November 23, 2022 in theaters and will fall under the Rocky umbrella. While the role Lopez will be taking has yet to be revealed, it’s a big move by the young boxing superstar to take a step into Hollywood.
The Creed series follows Adonis Creed, the son of slain Apollo Creed, as he follows in his father’s footsteps as a boxer while also looking to step out from the heavyweight champion’s shadow. He receives help from Rocky Balboa who wants to see him do well and right by his father’s name.
Creed has done a good job casting boxing names for the movies. In addition to Teofimo Lopez, Creed has cast Tony Bellew, Andre Ward and Gabriel Rosado in their movies. Lopez comes in as the most decorated fighter to join the show sans Ward.
Teofimo Lopez Diving Into Hollywood
Teofimo Lopez taking a role in Creed III should be quite natural for him given the subject matter. Lopez has found success everywhere he goes and has become one of the pound for pound best fighters in the world at only 24 years of age. His win over Vasyl Lomachenko, who was the top pound for pound fighter at the time, was one of the best fights of the year which saw Lopez capture the belts and dethrone Lomachenko. Now, Lopez gets ready to take on George Kambosos Jr. this weekend on DAZN and defend his titles for the first time.
Teofimo Lopez will undoubtedly add some cred among the boxing community to the Creed series. Adding the young star will bring in the fans of Lopez to the movie hopefully boosting box office results. Stay posted to My MMA News for all the latest Creed III casting and news. Thanks for reading!
