Teofimo Lopez vs Pedro Campa scheduled for August 13 main event

The last man to defeat the greatest amateur boxer of all-time, Teofimo Lopez, has his next bout lined up, as he shares a main event spot with Pedro Campa in one month’s time.

This bout is to go down on August 13, 2022, live from the Resorts World Las Vegas Event Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Teofimo Lopez shocked the world when he defeated then WBA, WBO, and Ring Magazine lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko back in October of 2020.

This victory saw him capture those titles, it saw him retain his IBF lightweight title, and it also saw him improve to 16-0 (12 knockouts) as a professional.

The national golden gloves champion has fought just once since this incredible victory however, where he was defeated by George Kambosos Jr via split decision in a very close encounter, losing his belts in the process.

Kambosos has since lost those titles to our new undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney.

Nonetheless, Lopez aims to get back on track with a victory next month over a tough opponent in Pedro Campa.

The Mexico native has gone 34-1-1 (23 knockouts) since making his professional debut in 2011, and he comes into this bout on a four-fight win streak, having gone 7-0-1 since his first, and only defeat to date.

Lopez looked nearly unstoppable in his unanimous decision win over Lomachenko but wasn’t able to replicate that success in his next outing. Come August, he looks to right those wrongs and get back on the winning track with a victory over a true veteran in Pedro Campa.

Lopez is still just 24 years of age as well, and will have just turned 25 by time these two step in the ring.

This bout will be contested at 140 lbs (super-lightweight), it will be scheduled for 10 rounds, and it’s intended to be the main event of the evening.

Does Teo Lopez get back to his winning ways on August 13?

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
