TJ Dillashaw Gives Update on His Career and Injuries
Former two-time UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw appeared on Chael Sonnen’s YouTube channel and discussed several topics including his “enemy” Henry Cejudo.
“I have some enemies that are going to stay my enemies for the rest of my life,” said Dillashaw. “I wouldn’t say it’s because he’s a shit talker, but it’s the way he carries himself. It’s something I want back.”
Cejudo finished Dillashaw in January for the UFC flyweight championship. Following the fight Dillashaw was suspended for two years for taking performance-enhancing drugs. Since Dillashaw won’t get a chance to avenge the loss in the near future he’s been focusing on his health.
Dillashaw told Sonnen that he’s currently recovering from shoulder surgeries to both shoulders.
“I got them done about two to three months apart,” said the 33 year old. “I haven’t done any practicing yet, I’ve been getting back in shape and just started running again. I’ve been working out my legs, but when it comes to martial arts training, I haven’t even chanced it.”
While Dillashaw hasn’t been training, he’s still has a presence in the sport. Recently he’s been coaching Juan Archuleta, who fights Patricio “Pitbull” Freire this weekend for the Bellator featherweight championship. The bout is a match up in the opening round of the Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix.
“I don’t think Pitbull is going to answer the bell,” said Dillashaw. “This is a perfect fight for Archuleta. Pitbull has a lot of power in his hands, but he doesn’t have the cardio that Juan has.”
Dillashaw will be slowly working his way back to training while also coaching his teammates. In the meantime he started his own YouTube channel in which he’ll show his road to recovery and his journey back into the UFC.
He also becoming a businessman as he’s working with Clean Juice, an organic juicing company, which will start opening businesses in Dillashaw’s home state of California.
