Triton Fights Heads to Florida!! Massive Fight Card!
Triton Fights Promotion is headed to Florida!
You heard that correctly, the Long Island-based amateur promotion is headed to The Sunshine State to host a fight card while all New York MMA shows are suspended during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chris Macci, the matchmaker of Triton Fights joined Carroll’s Corner MMA Podcast Wednesday Night to discuss the upcoming show on March 27, 2021, in Tampa Bay, Florida. This fight card will be the amateur promotions first amateur and professional fight card combined. Macci explained in the interview how they came about putting together a fight card in Tampa Bay. The Triton Fights matchmaker mentioned the extensive communication between New York State Governor Cuomo’s office and the promotion before they finally decided to contact Ron DeSantis’ office. The Florida governor welcomed the promotion with open arms.
Triton Fights is well known for its great highlight videos and marketing of their events. Triton Fights currently streams their past events on Pluto TV. They currently have TF9 and TF10 on Amazon Prime, while their two-episode show “Chokehold“ can be purchased on Amazon Prime Video. Triton Fights once premiered the movie Gotti, directed by Kevin Connolly before John Gotti’s fight. The marketing through videos and graphics brings the standard of all promotions up to another level.
Macci dropped some fight news on the podcast as he informed us that Longo and Weidman (LAW) MMA bantamweight fighter, Dianna Karavas will be stepping inside the cage against Becca Evans of Delaware Dragon Martial Arts. Former Triton Fights flyweight champion, Danny Maldonado returns to the promotion, as a professional, seeking his first victory verse Javier “Kingzoovy” Gonzalez, of Orlando, Florida. “Kingzoovy” will be making his professional debut in this flyweight matchup.
The matchmaker informed us it will be a smaller cage setup in the venue in Tampa Bay, which will leave zero room for fighters to run, forcing their fighters to deliver action. Another matchup is between Ariana Melendez, out of The Jungle MMA in Orlando, Florida, and Glory “The Fury” Watson, Young’s MMA in Bangor, Maine. Melendez is currently represented by former UFC lightweight champion, Anthony Pettis’ management group, First Round Management. Watson and Melendez will be making their professional debut at Triton Fights: Tampa Bay.
On the amateur fight card, Triton Fights amateur featherweight champion, Tom “Pooch” Picciano (5-1) will be battling Kyle Blair (3-2), of Cali Style MMA in Cape Coral, Florida.
