Tyrell Fortune looks to stay perfect at Bellator 233
Bellator 233 looks to deliver to fans featuring veteran superstars and rising stars alike. This Friday, undefeated heavyweight, Tyrell Fortune will put his talents on display against veteran fighter Azu Anyanwu. While Anyanwu will be the heavier and more seasoned fighter, Fortune will look to extend his winning record and show why he is ready for a step up in competition. The heavyweight division showcases many mainstay fighters, and Fortune plans to show why he belongs. The opening fight on the main card looks to be a great fight of talent vs. experience.
Ahead of his fight, we sat down with Fortune to talk about his upcoming fight with Anyanwu.
“Generally when I’m looking at my opponents, I’m looking for habits,” Fortune stated.
“Everybody fights people differently so I try not to stick to one game plan until we start to figure him out,” he finished.
Fortune arrived in Thackerville, Okla. for fight week, despite some less than desirable travel conditions. The fighter seemed happy to finally be on location and ready for the final preparation of his fight. And with a win, the heavyweight prospect believes he will rise to the top of the division.
When asked about the fight, Fortune believes Anyanwu will keep the fight, “standing up.” So while Fortune has a storied past of wrestling, he is confident that he can win this fight on his feet.
So will a victory over Anyanwu slingshot the heavyweight prospect into bigger fights? While Fortune wouldn’t name a particular fighter he is eyeing, he believes so.
“I think I’m the top prospect of the whole company right now,” Fortune said.
“I don’t think there is anybody that shows more promise than me, and that’s dominating their opponents like I am,” he continued.
Tyrell Fortune takes on Zu Anyanwu on the main card of Bellator 233 on Friday Nov. 8 at the WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Okla.
