Tyson Fury vs. The Mountain In The Works for November
Tyson Fury may be back in the ring sooner than you think. But it isn’t against the winner of Usyk-Joshua 2 or even UFC heavyweight champion Francis N’Gannou. Instead, Fury is working on taking on an exhibition match against Hafthor Bjornsson, known as “Thor” or “The Mountain.” The news was told to Telegraph Sport.
Tyson Fury vs. The Mountain? Why not!
Tyson Fury retired after knocking out Dillian Whyte in April of this year. While his future remains muddled and he’s yet to be stripped of the WBC World Heavyweight title, Fury remains adamant that he’s retired from professional boxing. He’s teased some one off fights that weren’t boxing, however, including a superfight with Francis N’Gannou after his win over Whyte in April.
But Thor Bjornsson has called out Fury to an exhibition after Fury and Bjornsson went at it in jest on social media. Bjornsson defeated Eddie Hall via decision this year settling the long awaited rivalry and scored a great knockdown with a 1-1-2 over Hall.
Fury likes the prospects of fighting Bjornsson and putting on a show for all his fans in the UK, hoping to sell out a stadium in London. While it’s not finalized yet, it’s definitely in the works with both camps.
“It would be a bit of fun,” Fury told Telegraph Sport. “It would be great to get in there in front of, say, 70,000 fans and show him what boxing is all about, make him miss, and knock him out. We are talking to his team at the moment and it is definitely something I’m interested in.”
As for the rematch between Joshua and Usyk in August, Tyson Fury says he’s not interested. He’s already had all the belts and now he wants to have some fun and do what he wants to do.
“I’m not overly concerned with Anthony Joshua and Usyk in Saudi Arabia next month, whoever wins, because I’ve achieved everything I wanted to as a professional boxer, undefeated and having won all the belts. There are so many other things I can go on and do,” he added.
