Watch the official weigh-in for UFC 189: Mendes vs. McGregor live Friday, July 10 at 7pm/4pm ETPT.
UFC 189 is promising to be the biggest mixed martial events of the year and possibly ever according to UFC President Dana White. The event will be held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, July 11 only on pay-per-view.
White is speculating that despite their featherweight champion Jose Aldo pulling out of the headlining featherweight title bout with Conor McGregor the pay-per-view buy rate could surpass their largest event to date, UFC 100.
The UFC 100 fight card did 1.6 million buys on pay-per-view. Could Conor McGregor obtain bigger numbers than Brock Lesnar?
Let’s not forget about the first title fight of the night. A rematch between Robbie Lawler and Rory MacDonald. Lawler won the first outing via decision and now that he is champion, his first task at hand is to defend against MacDonald who believes he is a much better fighter now. Finally, after the months leading up to this fight and the two not trash talking one another they got in each others face today with Lawler slapping MacDonald’s fist away.
The Immortal, Matt Brown headlines the preliminary bouts on Fox Sports 1 against a very game, Tim Means. Also, Mike Swick returns to the octagon for the first time in several years. Swick and Diego Sanchez are the only two active Ultimate Fighter 1 cast members on the UFC roster.
