UFC 222 gets new headliner, Cyborg defends against Kunitskaya
After an injury to UFC featherweight champion and UFC 222 headliner Max Holloway sent organization officials scrambling for a new main event to save the pay-per-view card, a new fight has been booked to save the day.
Holloway sustained a leg injury and cannot defend against former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.
Instead, Cris Cyborg will make the second defense of her UFC women’s featherweight crown against former Invicta FC champion Yana Kunitskaya.
Edgar will remain on the card, and the No. 2-ranked contender will have another tough challenge as he faces No. 3-ranked contender Brian Ortega in the three-round co-main event of the evening.
UFC 222 takes place on March 3 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
