UFC 241 results: Sodiq Yusuff overcomes early scare to finish Gabriel Benitez
The featherweight division was on display Saturday night at UFC 241, as one of the top prospects in the UFC took on a wily veteran.
In a main card matchup, Sodiq Yusuff took on Gabriel Benitez at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. “Super” Sodiq brought a four-fight winning streak into the fight as he looked to take a big step forward in the 145-pound division. After earning a UFC contract on the Contender Series last summer in one of the best fight’s in the show’s history against Mike Davis, Yusuff earned a first-round finish win over Suman Mokhtarian at UFC Fight Night 142 in December. The 26-year-old came back three months later and earned a unanimous decision win over Sheymon Moraes at UFC on ESPN 2.
Benitez is looking to extend his winning streak to three fights as he looks to climb the featherweight ladder. After dropping a unanimous decision to Enrique Barzola at UFC 211 in May 2017, Benitez would pick up a unanimous decision win over Jason Knight at UFC Fight Night 123 in December 2017, as well as a 39-second finish win over Humberto Bandenay at UFC Fight Night 129 last May. This is “Moggly’s” first fight in 15 months.
