All fighters officially made weight yesterday for the June 1 fight card.
The women’s strawweight bout between Jessica Aguilar and Jodie Esquibel was canceled due to a health concern to Aguilar. The former WSOF champion told MMAFighting that the New York State Athletic Commission scrapped the fight due to Aguilar having chapped lips.
UFC statement:
“Due to a medical issue involving strawweight athlete Jessica Aguilar, the New York State Athletic Commission has cancelled her scheduled bout against Jodie Esquibel. Tonight’s UFC FIGHT NIGHT: RIVERA VS. MORAES card will proceed with 12 bouts, beginning at 6:55 pm ET / 3:55 pm PT.”
The two-division champion from Titan FC, Jose ‘Shorty’ Torres got the call to the UFC on short notice and made a statement. Tonight he TKO’d Jarred Brooks in the second round to continue his lengthy and impressive win streak.
