UFC Fight Night Fortaleza Results – Assucao vs. Moraes 2
UFC Fight Night Fortaleza takes place Saturday, Feb. 2 from the Centro de Formacao Olimpica do Nordeste in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. A pair of top-ranked bantamweights competed in the main event as Raphael Assuncao and Marlon Moraes lock horns in the center of the octagon. This fight was a rematch from their UFC 212 fight in 2017 where Assuncao won a split decision. Moraes cut Assuncao early, got a dominant position and forced him to fight. Assuncao taps moments later.
Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo competed in the night’s co-main event in what was the first UFC fight he has competed in that was not sanctioned for five-rounds. He met Renato Moicano at 145-pounds. Aldo, the #2 ranked featherweight took the striking game to the #5 ranked competitor and finished him in the second round. Aldo looked spectacular.
Two fighters missed weight during yesterday’s weigh-ins. Sarah Frota came in seven pounds over weight as she missed the 116-pound limit in her strawweight bout against Livia Renata Souza. Magomed Bibulatov missed the flyweight limit by one pound. He meets Rogerio Bontorin to open up the card on ESPN+.
Demian Maia proved once again why he is one of the very best to ever compete in the sport. He submits Lyman Good with a rear-naked choke in the very first round. He moves to 10 submission victories in the UFC.
What an absolutely crazy start to David Teymur vs Charles Oliveira. An eyepoke to Oliveira early on, temporarily halts the fight. The action finally resumes after a point deduction to Teymur, and again another poke. The fight goes on. Oliveira throws a kick and his toe goes into Teymur’s eye now. The brawl continues and Oliveira is dropped. He fights off his back. They stand, and again Oliveira tries to get the referee to stop the action. The fight goes to round two and Oliveira lights Teymur up on the feet, drags Teymur to the ground and submits him with an anaconda choke.
Johnny Walker only needed 15 second to put Justin Ledet away. Luckily for Walker, a kick that he threw to the grounded Ledet, did not connect with his opponent’s head and he was able to finish the fight with strikes to get the victory. He was just inches away from a disqualification.
A fourth split decision victory tonight in Brazil as Livia Renata Souza defeated Sarah Frota (29-28, 28-29, 29-28), in the first fight on the main card.
Max Griffin and Thiago Alves put on an absolute WAR!!! If this fight does not earn the Performance of the Night bonus….. it would be an absolute travesty Three rounds of Rock ‘Em, Sock ‘Em robots, back and forth. Griffin definitely wins the first round, Alves comes back and wins the second, but even though Griffin should have likely won the third round, the judges in Brazil score the fight for their local competitor. Alves wins by split decision.

Jairzinho Rozenstruik makes an impressive UFC debut when he survived the jiu jitsu and heavy hands of Junior Albini in the first round. Rozenstruik comes back with a big TKO win in the second, which battered and bloodied the Brazilian who had trouble immediately getting back up to his feet.
Said Nurmagomedov made quick work of Ricardo Ramos when he score a first round technical knockout.
