UFC on FOX 28 Results – Josh Emmett vs Jeremy Stephens
UFC on FOX 28 was held this afternoon from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.
The 12-fight event kicked off Saturday with four fights streaming live on UFC Fight Pass at 4 p.m. EST. Four additional preliminary-card bouts follow on FOX at 6 p.m. ET, with the four-fight main card airing live at 8 p.m. ET, also on FOX.
The card was headlined by hard-hitting featherweights Josh Emmett and Jeremy Stephens, with a co-main event of Jessica Andrade and Tecia Torres in a strawweight bout.
Yesterday Alex Perez came in 0.5 pounds over the 126 pound limit and was given one hour by the Florida Athletic Commission to lose the weight for his fight with Eric Shelton. After the one hour he came in heavier at 127 pounds. He was fined 20 percent of his fight purse, but the fight will go on as planned.
The ‘Unbreakable’ Jeremy Stephens gets the job done with a second round finish of Emmett.
Is Jessica Andrade not a top strawweight or what???? WOW! Did she put on a performance against Tecia Torres en route to a unanimous decision win.
Ilir Latifi submitted Ovince Saint Preux in the very first round and then called for a title shot with light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier who was cageside. Cormier of course is challenging for the heavyweight title in July.
Max “Pain” Griffin came into enemy territory tonight in Orlando to hand ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry a devastating unanimous decision loss in the biggest win of his career. Beautiful performance by Griffin.
“Boom” Brian Kelleher looked phenomenal tonight inside the octagon as he earned a unanimous decision win over former bantamweight champion Renan Barao.
Marion Reneau recorded the biggest win of her career when she survived the storm from Sara McMann’s dominant wrestling and ground and pound in round one, to score a second round submission by way of triangle choke.
