UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones returns with title defense in Texas

The 32-year-old Jon “Bones” Jones returns and will be looking to extend on his remarkable record as a professional, as he defends his title against Dominick Reyes. The pair will face off at UFC 247 in the Toyota Centre in Houston, Texas. Jon Jones is again heading in as the overwhelming favourite and is going to prove popular with punters. Many have been using the sign up offers reviewed by Wincomparator, such as the 100% deposit bonus on offer for new players at Betway. This can then be used to support the stacked card this weekend.

Jon ‘Bones’ Jones is widely regarded as the greatest of all time and also currently heads the UFC Pound-for-Pound rankings. He has a professional record of 25 wins, one loss and one no contest. However, he has yet to be beaten as the defeat was through disqualification by illegal elbows. This was at the Ultimate Fighter 10 finale against Matt Hamill.

Following the disqualification, Jones won 13 fights in succession that included him beating endless ‘big’ name fighters. This including the likes of Rashad Evans, Vitor Belfort, Chael Sonnen, Alexander Gustafsson and Daniel Cormier. The latter was a much anticipated fight, with Jones winning the main event at UFC 182. Just two fights later and the pair would face off again, with Jones winning before the fight being overturned to a no contest by CSAC.

Just over a year later and Jones has returned with three further victories against Alexander Gustafsson, Anthony Smith and finally Thiago Santos. He now heads into UFC 247 looking to extent his formidable record against a new opponent, but it is a fight he will be expected to win.

Dominick Reyes is ranked fourth in the Light Heavyweight division, so is the next viable opponent for Jones. The 30 year old is also unbeaten, with a record of 12 wins without defeat, with seven of them via knockout. He has now won six fights in succession in the UFC, which has set him up with the opportunity to challenge for the belt. This run started with a TKO defeat of Joachim Christensen in the first round of their fight at UFC Fight night 112.

Reyes then picked up two further victories before featuring on the Nurmagomedov vs McGregor card at UFC 229. This was the biggest event in UFC history, so a fantastic platform. He duly obliged with a unanimous decision victory over Ovince St. Preux. Reyes has now followed this up with two further victorious, that includes a first round stoppage of Chris Weidman.

It now sets up for a fascinating fight at UFC 247, as Reyes looks to shock the world.
